ED-XJ was specially engineered to accommodate linear thermal expansion as a result of temperature fluctuations throughout the course of an outdoor event. It is particularly useful in outdoor stadium environments where large areas of flooring are installed and where the scale of potential expansion is magnified and the event generally spans both daytime and nighttime and possibly multiple days.

Like engineered expansion joints in a bridge or gaps in a concrete sidewalk, the EventDeck Expansion Joint module is designed to accommodate movement and expansion in the floor and to prevent buckling or deformation.

Each ED-XJ module consists of two distinct pieces that nest into each other to create a full module. These pieces are connected via a channel that allows the sections to slide together or apart like an accordion. Sections look like a standard EventDeck module and have the same connectors as a standard EventDeck module, but incorporate the track slide feature.

Each 1 ft-wide module can accept up to 1” of expansion and it is recommended that a strip of modules be placed every 20-40 feet, depending on the temperature range expected during the event, aisle positioning, and other factors.

Our experienced staff can assist you in determining if an Expansion Module is recommended for your event or venue, and if so, how frequently such a module should be used.

This feature of our flooring is so unique that it is currently patent pending.
